It is the 100th Anniversary and Seiko Celebrates it in a Grand Style
In order to celebrate the 100th year of their prestigious journey, Seiko has declared to launch its new Presage Kintaro Hattori Limited Edition watch. Since its inception, the company has strived to work in line with the founder Kintaro Hattori’s philosophy ‘Always one step ahead of the rest’.
The brand name came to the surface when the company put “Seiko” on the dial of a wristwatch back in 1924. Consequently, 2024 is the brand's landmark year, and they have planned to celebrate it with a new creation from the Presage collection that pays special honor to this historic.
The Seikosha factory was destroyed in 1923 by the devastating Great Kanto Earthquake. In the very next year the company manufactured their first Presage timepiece. The new creation in 2024 inherits all the classic characters of the original watch.
For example, the 12 o’clock typeface and position create nostalgia among users about the distinctive style of that era. Besides, the thick and slender Arabic numerals display a dynamic and bold font—paying tribute to the original at the same time.
The new dial, similar to the 1924 original, is made with enamel. The craftsmanship is jaw-dropping—thanks to Mitsuru Yokosawa and the team who are the masters of enamel production. The new timepiece is powered by the new Calibre 6R5H featuring a 24-hour sub-dial at the six o’clock position.
Its Arabic numerals are intricately designed to those of the small seconds sun-dial that occupied the same position on the original. Seiko will produce only 1,000 pieces of Presage Kintaro Hattori Limited Edition watch worldwide and it will be available from January 2024.
